Last night, we hosted our much-anticipated Meet & Mingle event at WeWork Toranomon, and it was a fantastic success!
From 6 pm to 8 pm, expats and locals alike came together for an evening filled with great conversations, laughter, and connections.
A Welcoming Atmosphere for All Levels
We designed the event with everyone in mind, regardless of Japanese language proficiency. Participants joined small group discussions based on their language level, allowing beginners to comfortably engage in light conversations while advanced speakers dove into real Japanese small talk. These groups offered a perfect blend of fun and learning, with tips shared on navigating Japanese culture and intercultural communication.
Exploring Tokyo Together
One of the standout moments of the evening was when participants began recommending their favorite spots around Tokyo. From hidden udon and ramen gems to cozy izakayas, everyone had something to share. It was a great way to discover new places and bond over shared interests in the local food scene.
Conversation Workshops and Cultural Exchange
We also hosted a mini-workshop on how to start conversations with Japanese people, highlighting the differences in small talk compared to other countries. This interactive session helped participants better understand the nuances of communication in Japan, which can be quite different from what they’re used to back home. With attendees from all over the world, the event turned into a fascinating cultural exchange, with people sharing insights about their own cultures and interests.
