It\u2019s made up of the stem of the verb (the part before the \u307e\u3059 ending) plus \u305f\u3044, which means \u201cwant to do.\u201d To make it more polite, add \u3067\u3059 at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you want to say \u201cI want to eat sushi,\u201d the verb for \u201ceat\u201d is \u98df\u3079\u308b (taberu). To use ~\u305f\u3044\u3067\u3059, you would take the stem of taberu (\u98df\u3079) and add \u305f\u3044 to make \u98df\u3079\u305f\u3044 (tabetai). I want to study Japanese.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u53cb\u9054\u3068\u904a\u3073\u305f\u3044\u3067\u3059\u3002(Tomodachi to asobitai<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is \u6b32\u3057\u3044 (hoshii) and how to use it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to ~\u305f\u3044\u3067\u3059, another common way to express desires in Japanese is by using \u6b32\u3057\u3044 (hoshii), which means \u201cto want\u201d or \u201cto desire.\u201d While ~\u305f\u3044\u3067\u3059 expresses a desire to do something (aka a verb), \u6b32\u3057\u3044 expresses a desire to have something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Using hoshii to say &#8220;I want&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To use hoshii, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take the noun that you want (the thing you desire).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add \u304c (ga) after the noun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add \u6b32\u3057\u3044 (hoshii) at the end.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you want to say \u201cI want a book,\u201d the word for book is \u672c (hon).
