We invite you to join us on an introductory tour of Tokyo's Shitamachi area, the charming Yanaka neighborhood, on March 25th at 10:00 am. Discover a hidden gem nestled between Ueno and Nippori Stations with its nostalgic vibe and stunning Sakura.
Our half-day tour begins with a brief introduction to useful Japanese phrases and vocabulary which we can use on the tour, before we set off to explore the best-kept secrets of Yanaka.
Our itinerary includes a visit to scenic temples built hundreds of years ago, whose precincts house fascinating historical treasures. We will also explore Tokyo's famous Yanaka Cemetery, where notable burial sites and blossoming cherry trees await us. We will stroll through narrow winding streets lined with a mix of charming old and stylish new shops, and visit the iconic Yanaka Ginza shopping street to taste Japanese street food galore.
In addition to sightseeing, we will also provide opportunities for you to sample a variety of local delicacies ranging from rice crackers to craft beer, and visit unique souvenir shops owned by skilled artisans.
Our tour will end around 2 pm at JR Nippori Station or a nearby café specializing in shaved ice desserts.
Join us on this engaging and informative tour, where you'll experience firsthand the cultural richness and historical significance of the Yanaka neighborhood. What differs us from regular tours is that we also offer a language component – walk and learn, or while you are partaking in the tour, learn some Japanese at the same time. We make learning fun!
